Doctor Who filming Christmas Special 2012

This year Christmas Special was filming in August, about 2 months ago, in Portland Square, Bristol. So it’s not hard to figure out the snow is “fake”, not an actual winter. In the video you can watch he cast and crew working on series 7 of Doctor Who.

Jenna Louise-Coleman begins filming Doctor Who

A few days ago Doctor Who tv announced (as expected – we all knew from some time that she replaces Amy and Rory as Doctor Who companion) that Jenna Louise-Coleman began shooting her first scenes as new companion on Doctor Who this week.

Filming has been taking place on location at the medieval manor of Plas Llanmihangel. The manor also has a church on the grounds. There’s a bit of an eerie quality to it, so the ghost story rumour could fit. Then again, that seems to stem from Coleman’s audition script, the one that Steven Moffat said would not make it to the screen in any form.

Jenna was spotted as she was leaving the location, so this is unlikely to be her costume (click to enlarge).

Filming was behind closed doors, so no further details unfortunately. But there is speculation Jenna’s companion could be from the past, which would make for a refreshing change.

Doctor Who filming – Christmas Special 2011

This video is from the last year Doctor Who Christmas Special, not from season 7 as the last videos, but I consider it interesting enough to post it here.

Madge Arwell and a space suited man are breaking into a Police Telephone Box.

Doctor Who filming – Series 7, episode 5, scene 5

On the set of Series 7 of Doctor Who, in Cardiff. This is part of scene 5 of episode 5, which features the Weeping Angels. The episode is period, set in the 1940’s. A mysterious character, male, 30’s, in a pea-coat and fedora had already cautiously entered the building, followed by an equally cautious Rory. The Doctor and Amy are in a bigger rush!!

In this second recording Amy and the Doctor are running past two weeping angels into the Department of Physics at Cardiff University.

Video was taken at 4/4/12 at approximately 10:30 pm.  It seems to be set in America (the crew changed the No Parking signs to resemble American no parking signs).

Filming series 7 of Doctor Who starts… tomorrow

As announced on the official site, filming the season 7 of Doctor Who will start tomorrow in Cardiff and somewhere in Wales. There were announced a lot of surprises, as usual, especially it’s already been confirmed that Toby Whithouse and Chris Chibnall are writing episodes for the new series of Doctor Who.

The first director to shout ‘action’ will be the award-winning Saul Metzstein whose previous credits include Micro Men (starring Alexander Armstrong and Martin Freeman), the critically acclaimed Late Night Shopping and BBC Wales’ Upstairs Downstairs. For the very first time, Doctor Who will be produced at the new BBC Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff, which officially open in March. The production team includes Steven Moffat (Executive Producer and lead writer), Caroline Skinner (Executive Producer) and Marcus Wilson (Producer).

The new series will see Matt Smith return as the Doctor in what Steven Moffat has described as ‘the biggest, the best and the most ambitious season we’ve ever made’. Karen Gillan (Amy) and Arthur Darvill (Rory) are both back, for what will be their final voyage with the Doctor – a thrilling rollercoaster ride which will culminate in a heart-breaking farewell to the Ponds. But there will be more shocks, surprises and adventures to come when the Doctor meets a new friend, in the last very place he could ever have expected…
