Traffic Experiment – Vashta Nerada (Doctor Who Theme)

Something interesting to listen. 🙂

Vashta Nerada [Doctor Who Theme] is Traffic Experiment’s reworking of Ron Grainer and Delia Derbyshire’s classic Doctor Who theme, featuring the vocals of the very lovely Harri Norris and recorded with producer George Shilling (of Bernard Butler, Blur, Porcupine Tree fame) at his Bank Cottage studio. TE’s very good friend and videographer Rich Wakefield of FX Media filmed the recording and produced this video.

DW Theme on Player Piano

Composer and pianist Sonya Belousova and director Tom Grey celebrate over 50 years of Doctor Who by paying tribute to its iconic theme.

Two of several thousands people covering Doctor Who themes on YouTube, but (probably) the only 2 emerging out of a Tardis, walking across a cloud, siting down at their piano, and then playing dressed as every incarnation of the Doctor.

Player Piano is a channel that specialises in huge, visually-elaborate renditions of music from the Street Fighter score to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. And the main theme of Doctor Who.

David Tennant adds lyrics to Broadchurch theme

David Tennant, the former Doctor, adds amazing comedy lyrics to the haunting Broadchurch TV show theme song. The Tenth Doctor spent the morning co-hosting the Absolute Radio Breakfast Show with his mate Christian O’Connell.

It was nothing like Doctor Who, so that’s nice…

It stars me and Arthur Darvill – who played Rory – but it’s nothing like Doctor Who…

And nobody’s noticed Gwen from Torchwood, because it isn’t Doctor Who…

Or that young journalist, who was also once in Doctor Who… as was the psychotherapist – and Olivia Colman… but like I say, it’s nothing like Doctor Who…

The theme played on a laser harp

What about a little dancing, kids? 🙂 Here’s a rather good dubstep version of the Doctor Who theme performed on a laser harp by Steve Thompson. This video features a full size TARDIS, a Delorean (well, if you’re going to have one time machine, you might as well have two!), a sonic screw driver and of course, a laser harp! Other instruments include a classic synth from the 80’s, the Roland D50, a Yamaha CS1x and a Novation Launchpad S.

We’ve all watched John Barrowman playing the role of Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who series and Torchwood series… but it’s the first time I am hearing him singing and singing Doctor Who theme song. I don’t know the occasion, but it’s fun. 😀
