Richard E. Grant returns to Doctor Who for Christmas special

The news of the week is that Richard E. Grant is going to return to Doctor Who for 2012 Christmas special as a villain.

I’ve never watch him in the old Doctor Who series, but Richard E Grant is an actor, author and director, that has starred in over 80 film and television hits including Withnail And I, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Jack & Sarah, Gosford Park and The Iron Lady (as it is said).

Before the new series of Doctor Who, when Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant took on the lead role, Richard E. Grant played “alternate” versions of the Ninth and Tenth Doctors in Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death (a two-part mini-story, broadcast in 1992 as part of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day) and Scream of the Shalka (a flash-animated six-part serial written by Paul Cornell, which was webcast in 2003 to mark Doctor Who’s 40th anniversary) .

The 2012 Christmas special is written by Steven Moffat and directed by Saul Metzstein, it will be shot this week in Cardiff at BBC Wales’ studios.
