Doctor Who: Flux 6, The vanquishers

The last chapter of Flux was proven to be.. a massacre. I can’t say it was not unexpected, during an event that involves the destruction of the entire Universe some victims are expected to happen. There were some good moments, too. Only some, but good – the rate of the episode was a medium one (it was not bad, but it was far from something extraordinary).

Karvanista remained the only Lupari alive, the professor Eustacius Jericho met his doom (disappointing the people expecting a spin-off series with the professor leading it), three giant fleets (Sontara, Cybermen and Dalek) disappeared because of Flux. Swarm and Azure paid for their failure, but I let you discover yourself how.

Vinder and Bel found each other and they will spend the next period with Karvanista. Will their child love the biped dog that was with him all his life? That remains to be seen if the next producer in chief will decide to show us that. The grand serpent was exiled in the middle of nowhere, so we may meet him sometime, somewhere in the Doctor Who Universe. The rest of the Flux survivers found their place in the new order, the one Flux left behind.

I have to admit it: I was wrong (but not very wrong): the Doctor didn’t recovered yet her memories burried in that device they were hidden in. Not because she couldn’t (eventually), but because she stored it for some time. It’s just a problem of time until she will ask them back, and it will probably happend during a life and death situation – maybe during New Year’s Eve or during one of the few special episodes in which Jodie Whittaker will play your favorite Lord of Time.

Directed by Azhur Saleem, written by Chris Chibnall.

The cast: Jodie Whittaker (The Doctor), Mandip Gill (Yasmin Khan), John Bishop (Dan Lewis), Sam Spruell (Swarm), Rochenda Sandall (Azure), Steve Oram (Joseph Williamson), Kevin McNally (Professor Eustacius Jericho), Craige Els (Karvanista), Thaddea Graham (Bel), Jemma Redgrave (Kate Stewart), Jonathan Watson (Sontaran Commander Stenck), Craig Parkinson (The Grand Serpent), Dan Starkey (Senstarg), Annabel Scholey (Claire), Jacob Anderson (Vinder), Nadia Albin (Diane), Simon Carew (Ood), Silas Carson (Ood – voice).

The next episode is Eve of the Daleks and it’s going to be broadcast on New Year’s Eve: Sarah owns and runs ELF storage, and Nick is a customer who visits his unit every year on New Year’s Eve. This year, however, their night turns out to be a little different than planned. It’s written by Chris Chibnall.
