Doctor Who, season 12, episode 3 – Orphan 55

Orphan 55, the 55th planet that has been abandoned by the humans because, from different motifs such war or natural catastrophe, it became uninhabitable. There were left behind only the people too poor to afford the evacuation or too late to go with the ships.

Someone developed there Tranquillity Spa, a place where people could relaxe at a price very low compared with the places developed inside the big cities from other planet. She hoped that in some years would have enough money to change the planet, to make it habitable and own it. But she did not took into consideration the attacks of the native, the terrorist from her own family and the Doctor’s arrival with her friends.

The ideea is excellent but the production is not quite as good: the action is there but the inconsistencies come along it. The Doctor does what the Doctor does best: she runs from one place to another trying to solve the problems (and it’s probably the only or one of the few things that save the episode) and, sort of, she succeeds. She didn’t save all of them but, at least, she and her friends survive.

The end of the episode comes with a very modern warning: take care of your planet otherwise it will become uninhabitable. And it’s the only one we have right now.
