About An Adventure in Space and Time

I’ve watch An adventure in space and time tonight and, from my point of view, it can be described in one single word: memorable. I did not had the chance to watch the old series, before the break that ended in 2005, and William Hartnell’s years as the Doctor were a lot before my time (I am only 35 years old). I enjoyed a lot watching the movie about how Doctor Who came into existence, I was a little sad about how it ended.. but that’s life.

The best thing… their work, the work of all the people involved in that first years, endured. Today we are all celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who… and looking forward for the first century.

Let’s take a look behind the scenes of the making of An Adventure in Space and Time, a special one-off drama that travels back to 1963 to see how Doctor Who was first brought to the screen. Actor William Hartnell felt trapped by a succession of hard-man roles. Wannabe producer Verity Lambert was frustrated by the TV industry’s glass ceiling. Both of them were to find unlikely hope and unexpected challenges in the form of a Saturday tea-time drama. Allied with a team of unusual but brilliant people, they went on to create the longest running science fiction series ever made.
