K-9 robot dog in real life

Doctor Who fans are among the most dedicated and creative people in the universe. One of them, Richard Hopkins, spent some time to create a working model of K-9, the Fourth Doctor’s robot dog. He started some time ago preparing for this, since he was eight years old, and the result is spectacular. You can read more about the subject on his blog.

Until the watch him showing how a Raspberry Pi and Servo Controller are connected to a formerly radio controlled K9 to enable remote control over Wifi.

He has done some significant progress over the last few months; operating K-9 remotely is now possible thanks to a new macro Pi camera and a (rather halting) conversation is also possible thanks to Google Translate and Pandorabots API. So you don’t need to be in the same room with the robot in order to operate it.
